Mughal architecture is a distinct style that emerged in northern and central India during the Mughal period. It is a beautiful blend of Indian, Turkish and Persian architecture. Many of the subcontinent presidents commissioned the construction of castles, mosques, palaces, mausoleums, public buildings, mausoleums and gardens, some of which still stand today. During the reign of Shah Jahan, the fifth Mughal emperor (hence known as the &quote;Golden Age&quote;), Mughal architecture reached a zenith of development and sophistication. This period is characterized by architectural symmetry and balance, attention to detail and strong infrastructure. Known as the &quote;City of Gardens&quote; in Lahore, Shalimar Gardens is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, the park attracts many locals and tourists as well as Islamic mystics, poets and artists.  

History of Shalimar Gardens 

Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan built the magnificent Shalimar Gardens. Kashmir's first Shalimar oasis was built on a snow-capped mountain peak by its father, Emperor Jahangir, in 1620. It was Emperor Jahangir who inspired the creation of this romantic garden. Kashmir was far from the Mughal capital, and Shah Jahan wanted to create a similar garden in Lahore to entertain the royal family and local officials. According to historians, Lahore was flooded between 1620 and 1630, exposing the landscape along the banks of the Ravi River. Its topography and fertile soil were ideal for horticulture.

Journey of Shalimar Gardens 

     At the time, it was a day's journey from the Lahore Fort, but it had a constant supply of water, so it was chosen as the perfect location for Shalimar Gardens. In June 1641,null development of Shalimar Gardens in Lahore began. Because the site was different from the Kashmir landscape, a team of engineers and architects spent over 18 months building a three-storey garden complex with waterfalls, ponds, fountains and seating areas.A 9 man once owned ShalimarBagh.The family of Patriarchal Yusuf donated the land to the king to build a palace. However, once the building was completed, Shah Jahan appointed Alan Minas the ruler. Shalimar Gardens was ruled by them for 350 years. With the collapse of the Mughal Empire.  

                     The subcontinent in 1872, Shalimar Gardens were severely damaged and destroyed. The marble used in the construction of the gardens was stolen and the ornate gates were sold. The Shalimar Gardens were restored by the then Maharaja in 1806. Even after Pakistan's independence in 1947, the gardens remained one of the most popular historical sites in Lahore. The annual Grand Mela was also held here, which was banned in 1958. - Run by the Alan Mian family. In 1981, the Shalimar Gardens and Lahore Fort in Pakistan were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

    Architectural significant 

                  Architecture of Shalimar Gardens In their heyday, mosques and forts were decorated with intricate patterns and meticulous detail. But the Mughals were also masters of other architectural forms. One of the beautiful and picturesque gardens they created is the Shalimar Gardens. Shalimar Gardens is not the only reason why Lahore is called the&quote; City Of Gardens. &quote;Other important Mughal cities in the subcontinent, such as Delhi, Agra and Fatehpur Siri, also have gardens. His passion for nature and architecture is well known. That's why he completed Shalimar in a year. 

                     Khalil ulah Khan, one of the most important masters of the Mughal court, oversaw the creation of this kind of nature and architecture. 150 years ago,it was chosen for the royal court, but today it is used by local residents. It is a serene garden that can be enjoyed by citizens and tourists alike. Shalimar Garden has a great water supply system. You will be amazed to see the water in Shalimar Garden. To irrigate the garden, a canal called Shah Nahar (Royal Canal) was opened from Rajpur. The purpose of the Mughal fountains was to enhance their appeal. The mighty river that breathes with charm is a fascinating sight.                

       Foundation        

                       The water from the fountain flows into a beautiful white marble pool. The building is magnificent considering its age. It brings joy to the audience. There are 410 seats throughout the garden, arranged as follows: 105 seats on the upper terrace, 152 seats on the middle terrace, and 153 seats on the lowest terrace, more than any other building. Barbaric Shalimar Garden Barbaric Shalimar Garden was built for the royal family during their vacation in Lahore. There is a unique Barbaric (Twelve Gates) in the park. Barbaric is beautifully decorated and perfect for an open yet enclosed entertainment area to avoid crowds.

Building of Shalimar Gardens            

    It is a very beautiful building surrounded by water, and its structure attracts attention. The effect is also great and very attractive. Many people visit here to enjoy the lively atmosphere.FairbanksThe name of the highest terrace is Fairbanks(the one who gives good luck). It has a somewhat mysterious atmosphere and is said to have been used as a hideout for the Queen. Faiz bank in Shalimar Gardens The second or middle garden is called&quote;Faiz bank &quote;,which means&quote; good&quote;.The Faiz bank terrace was reserved for the emperor. This terrace offers a panoramic view of the entire garden and is said to be the most beautiful part of the garden.
